LDS Diet and Health
So many voices telling you what to eat!
The Lord’s program is simple:
Doctrine & Covenants 89

WHAT TO EAT:

all wholesome herbs……..ordained…..…for the constitution, nature, and use of man (D&C 89:10)
flesh of beasts, fowls……..ordained……………………………………………..for the use of man  (D&C 89:15)
all grain……………….…..…ordained……….…… to be the staff of life for man and beast (D&C 89:14)

THE BOUNDS THE LORD HAS SET:

herbs and fruit…………………………………….to be used with prudence and thanksgiving  (D&C 89:11)
flesh of beast & fowl…………………………………….to be used with thanksgiving sparingly (D&C 89:12)
…………………………………………………………….only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine (D&C 89:13)
…………………………………………………………..only in times of famine and excess of hunger (D&C 89:15)
…………………………………………………………….for the use of man for food and for raiment (D&C 49:19)
………………………………………………. with judgment, not to excess, neither by extortion (D&C 59:20)
…………wo be unto man that sheddeth blood or that wasteth flesh and hath no need (D&C49:20b
JSTGen9:11)

It proscribes alcohol and tobacco, tea and coffee,  and emphasizes the use of fruit and grains.
This Word of Wisdom came to us from the God of Heaven, for our blessing. I regret that
we as a people do not observe it more faithfully.

– President Gordon B. Hinckley, Oct 1990
